Abstract Parallels and Beyond the App

"Abstract Parallels and Beyond the App" is an Art and Science and Technology performance event. The Art is "forevercloud" 2011 (http://www.forevercloud.org/forevercloud ) by Artist Peter Shaw, the New Media Art premiere of "1000 California Cloud" 2009, in collaboration with the Pande Lab at Stanford University and their cutting edge Folding@home program (http://folding.stanford.edu ) that is calculating to accelerate cures for diseases ranging from the Neonatal and the early life MCADD to Cancer and Alzheimer's. The Science is the protein folding research and the Technology is the Cloud computing distributed program that are the dynamic of the Folding@home enterprise created by the Pande Lab.
Stanford University Professor Vijay Pande will present the fundamentals of the Folding@home enterprise and how the aesthetic engagement with the New Media Art work "forevercloud" will allow Social Media to deliver significant computer power support to Folding@home with the content being the vehicle, beyond the standard of applications in Social Media.
Stanford University Professor Emeritus (active) Dr. Ronald Ariagno and Dr. Peter Teriete, from the Sanford Burnham Medical Research Institute at La Jolla, California, will elaborate on how the "Abstract Parallels" of Art and Science are particularly present in "forevercloud" and protein folding research.
Sound Artist Tamara Albaitis will present a Sound performance in synchronization with the New Media Art work in the Clark Center auditorium. Tamara, from the School of the Institute of Art Chicago, is the first MFA in sound Art in the country.
Stanford Studio Art student, James Lipshaw will present a "Cloud white board" Art installation at the beginning of the auditorium presentation, a collaborative work of Stanford Creative Arts students.
Francisco Rameriz, a senior HS student from East Palo Alto's Phoenix Academy will present "Cloud Choice" an intuitive application concept. A group of 30 Phoenix Academy seniors going to College in the Fall 2011 will be present to participate in the Performance Event.
